Match Footballs & Training Footballs

The right football depends on where it will be used and how often it needs to play.

Match footballs are built for a cleaner touch, truer flight and more consistent response when passing, crossing or striking through the ball. FIFA Quality Pro footballs sit at the top of the range, tested for weight, shape, bounce and water absorption. They make the most sense for competitive games, good pitches and players who want the closest feel to the balls used at professional level.

Training footballs are made for repetition. Passing drills, shooting sessions, wet 3G, school fields and the player still taking free kicks after everyone else has packed up. They usually use tougher outer materials and offer better value for clubs, coaches and players who need a ball that can handle regular use.

For most teams, the sensible setup is a group of durable training balls through the week and one or two higher-grade match balls for game day.

Which Football Size Do I Need?

Start with the correct size before choosing the design.

Size 3 footballs are used by younger junior players and are lighter and easier to control. Size 4 footballs are common across older junior age groups. Size 5 footballs are the standard full-size option for adults and older youth players.

League rules can vary, so check with the club or competition before buying. The right size helps younger players develop touch, passing and striking technique without having to fight against a ball that feels too heavy.

Mini footballs and size 1 skills balls are better suited to close-control work, collecting and quick touches in small spaces than full matches.

Futsal, Indoor and Street Footballs

Futsal balls are made for indoor courts and flat surfaces. Their reduced bounce keeps the game closer to the floor, making quick combinations and close control easier. A standard outdoor football will bounce higher and move differently on the same surface.

Street and cage footballs need tougher outer materials to cope with concrete, playgrounds and harder ground. Regular match balls are softer and more responsive, but they can wear quickly when used away from grass or 3G.

Official League and Tournament Footballs

Shop official Premier League, Champions League and World Cup footballs across pro, match, league, training and mini versions.

The top-spec ball gives you the closest construction and feel to the one used in the competition. League and training versions keep the same tournament design at a lower price and are usually the better choice for weekly sessions, garden football and everyday use.
