Size 2 footballs are slightly larger than mini balls and are typically used for developing ball control and technical ability, particularly in younger players. Suitable for children aged 3–6, they provide a manageable step up in size while still being easy to handle. They are also widely used for skill drills and freestyle practice, offering a balance between control and realism.

Size 3 footballs are designed for junior players, generally recommended for children aged 6–9. Smaller and lighter than full-size balls, they allow young players to develop passing, shooting, and dribbling techniques without compromising form due to excessive weight or size. Size 3 balls are commonly used in youth training sessions and entry-level competitive matches.

Size 4 footballs are intended for youth players aged 9–14 and serve as a transition between junior and full-size footballs. Slightly smaller and lighter than Size 5, they help players continue developing strength, control, and technical skills while preparing for the demands of the senior game. They are widely used in academy setups, schools, and youth leagues.

Size 5 footballs are the official full-size ball used in professional, amateur, and competitive football worldwide for players aged 14 and above. Designed to meet official regulations for weight, circumference, and performance, they are used across all formats of the game, including training and match play. Size 5 balls provide the standard for touch, flight, and consistency expected at the highest level.
