Description
The All Star Hi has had a lovely leather makeover for a crisp and durable finish. In a smart black hue - these high-top kicks are perfect for any occasion.
In 1908 the Converse Rubber Shoe Company in Malden, Massachusetts was established and by 1910 Converse had a production line outing 4000 shoes a day. 1917 became the main turning point for the company with the aim of enhancing the performance of the wearer. The 'All Star' Basketball was introduced, at this time the sport was only 25 years old.
In 1921, a Basketball player by the name of Charles Chuck Taylor walked into Converse complaining of sore feet, so Converse gave him a job. He strenuously went on continuing with his work until shortly before his death in 1969. The 'Chucks' soon became an icon of American sportswear and with such, a position it has maintained ever since with the likes of sports stars, rock stars, skaters and surfers frequently seen sporting Chucks.
The Converse All Star Chuck Taylor is undisputedly the king of the kicks, boasting sales of over 800 million pairs worldwide. Unlike any other shoe that eventually loses its popularity, the Converse All Star Chuck Taylor is as popular today as it was in 1923, when Chuck Taylor's name was stitched onto the patch, marking their birth.

If asked to name the oldest, most popular, best selling shoe of all time, the majority would assume this title would belong to industry giants such as Nike or adidas... how wrong they would be!
