Celebrate the birth of the Croatia national team with the CopaFootball Croatia 1990 Retro Football Shirt in Red/White.
Worn in the country’s first international game of the modern era – a match against the United States at Zagreb’s Maksimir Stadium – the 1990 shirt played a major part in Croatia’s football history. The Kockasti won the game 2-1, with goals from Ivan Cvjetkovic and Aljosa Asanovic, and quickly established themselves as a successful team, reaching the quarter-finals of the Euros and finishing third in the World Cup less than a decade after their formation. Along with the modern Croatian flag and the Croatian Kuna banknotes, the 1990 kit was designed by Croatian artist Miroslav Sutej, who took inspiration from Croatia’s historic coat of arms with the sahovnica (chessboard) design. This gave the shirt its iconic red and white chequered base. The cuffs were banded with white and blue stripes, to complete a look packed with Croatian identity.Description
