adidas Leather Pack Brings Leather to F50 Hyperfast and Predator 26
Leather suits some football boots better than others.
On the F50, it feels like adidas reopening an old idea. On the Predator, it feels like the boot has found its way home.
The Leather Tech Pack puts leather across the forefoot of the F50 Elite Hyperfast and Predator Elite FT, then leaves the current shapes, technical quarters and soleplates underneath. Two modern boots, softened in exactly the right place. The F50 gains a little calm. The Predator gets its old face back.
F50 L-Tech: Back to the First Idea
The original F50 was already playing with this balance in 2004. Leather through the front, lighter material behind it and a shape built around speed without removing every trace of comfort. Then Adizero arrived, weight became the headline and the silo moved further towards thin synthetic uppers.
The F50 Elite Hyperfast FG L-Tech picks that first thought back up. Leather covers the toes, technical support holds the rear and the same low Hyperfast shape sits underneath. It still looks quick, but there is more softness built into the part of the boot that sees most of the ball.
The white, black and orange colourway knows its history too. There is enough original F50 in the palette for anyone who remembers the first pairs, while the Sprintweb graphics and current silhouette stop it feeling like a remake dressed for an anniversary.
It has a little Morelia Neo Beta energy about it. Leather where you want touch, modern structure where the boot needs to stay sharp.
Predator L-Tech: Exactly Where It Belongs
Black leather. White Three Stripes. Red tongue over the laces. Predator has spent thirty years finding new ways to move forward, but this remains the silhouette people wait for.
The leather forefoot gives the current Elite more body, while the technical rear keeps the modern shape intact. It feels like adidas has put the familiar surface back onto a boot built for now, rather than tried to rebuild Accelerator, Mania or Pulse one stitch at a time.
Then there is the fold-over tongue. Part striking surface, part theatre, all Predator. It changes the whole outline before any of the smaller details have had a chance to show themselves.
The Details Come Later
The left boot carries 1994, marking the year the first Predator arrived. The original eyes sit on the right heel, while the older Predator wordmark appears across the left heel, elastic strap and underneath the tongue.
The best reference is split between the pair: 13 tally marks on the right and 10 on the left. Twenty-three in total for the 23rd Predator generation.
None of it gets in the way of the boot. From across the changing room, it is simply a very good black Predator. Pick it up and the older models begin to appear around the heel, strap and tongue.
Good luck being the first one to scuff them.
Two Icons, Back in Leather
The F50 is the cleverer twist. Its leather forefoot links the Hyperfast back to the original F50 idea, giving the current speed shape a little more softness without changing the boot underneath.
The Predator is the one people will pick up first. Leather, tongue, black, white and red. Everything familiar is there, but the current Elite platform keeps it out of archive-remake territory.
Copa still owns the traditional leather lane. The Leather Tech Pack sits somewhere more interesting: two of adidas' sharpest modern boots, given a surface that changes their whole mood.
Pack of the Year?
It is early, but adidas has understood the assignment.
The F50 feels considered. The Predator feels inevitable. Together, they bring leather back without pretending football boot design stopped twenty years ago.
