Tecnifibre TF40 315 18x20 Tennis Racket (Unstrung)

Take control in comfort with the Tecnifibre TF40 315 18x20 (Unstrung) tennis racket in White/Black, a classic all-round frame designed for touch and precision.

A special release celebrating the brand’s 40th anniversary, the Tecnifibre TF40 is a shining example of their design philosophy: it simply does everything well.

The frame’s built with Xtrem Touch Construction, a mix of carbon fibre, aluminium, and polyester fibres in a Dynacore braid that provides stability while allowing just the right amount of flex – the pocketing sensation is great.

XTC also evenly disperses vibrations on ball impact, which, combined with the greater string movement allowed by the racket’s wider Xtense BG grommets, creates a comfortable, pleasurable playing experience.

This updated version of the TF40 frame features a thinner, squarer RS Sharp beam for a faster feel through the air and even more stability.

Restringing is easy too: the wide grommets are joined by similarly chunky string channels on the outside of the frame, making installation a cinch.

The heavier of two available weights, the 315g edition of the TF40 is the ideal choice for intermediate and advanced players who want an extra boost of power to go with the racket’s traditional feel. The 18x20 version gives you more precision and control.

UNSTRUNG

This racket ships unstrung but is eligible for our in-house stringing service. We offer a selection of standard and premium strings, including polyester, multifilament, and natural gut options, and you can also choose to apply a brand logo and adjust your tension setting to best fit your game. To view stringing options on a racket, click “add to bag” and navigate the personalisation menu.

Please note: If you choose to apply a brand logo, the selected logo will be stencilled on in a colour that best complements the chosen string.

Tecnifibre

Since their formation in 1979, French brand Tecnifibre have lived up to their name, remaining at the forefront of tennis tech and producing some of the most innovative products on the market.

In fact, you might be using one of their inventions without realising it: back in 1983, they came up with the idea of utilising polyurethane to make synthetic strings more comfortable to play with, a concept that’s been a mainstay of the industry ever since.

It’s a good example of the company ethos of putting the player first, especially those who are just starting out. That’s always been the thinking of founder Thierry Maissant, who young players can thank for the specifically sized and weighted junior frames that are now commonplace. Frustrated by his own experiences as a junior, having had to play with rackets that were too long and too heavy, he began his business by commissioning some shorter, lighter frames, selling them under the moniker of Major Sports in the late 70s. Major Sports then secured a partnership with the French Tennis Federation to produce rackets for their new mini tennis programme, and the Tecnifibre brand was born.

To this day, they place special focus on young players, catering for all ages with their extensive range of junior frames and supporting up-and-comers with initiatives such as their Young Guns Contest, which helped Daniil Medvedev launch his career when he took home the cash prize in 2016.

Medvedev still uses a Tecnifibre racket, of course. He wields the control-focused T-Fight, as does fellow champion Iga Swiatek. There’s also the all-rounder’s TF40, the arm-friendly yet powerful TF-X1, the female-specific Tempo, and the accessible T-FIT collection, which brings top-notch performance to casual players. A true tennis brand with players at its core, you can’t go wrong with Tecnifibre.

Control Racket

Control rackets usually have closed string patterns – essentially, more strings per area – to increase ball contact and give you more control over your shots. They tend to have thinner beams to allow more flex and often utilise material technologies to make you feel more connected to the ball.

Precision Racket

Precision rackets are usually tightly strung with thinner beams for improved feel, allowing you to manipulate the ball more precisely. Typically designed with smaller headsizes, they’re often preferred by more experienced players who favour accuracy over easy power or spin and rely on pure technique to make sure shots hit their mark.
