Why it’s important

A poorly sized tennis racket can both increase risk of injury and impede the growth of technical skills, so it’s vital for junior tennis players to find the right racket during the key stages of development.

By age/height

The easiest way to tell what size will fit best is to simply use this chart to find the right racket length for a certain age or height. This should give a good indication of the general sizes to look for, but keep in mind that outliers who are particularly tall, short, strong or weak for their age may need to size up or down. If the junior player in question falls below these ranges for age or height, consider a 17-inch racket.

Its fresh, modern design is identical to the adult BOOM rackets and complements its explosive playability, generating a confident, powerful feel.Crafted to deliver unmatched comfort, the HEAD Boom Jr. 2024 Alternate features Auxetic constructions. Furthermore, strategically positioned Graphene Inside strengthens the frame, providing stability to optimise energy transfer from the racket to the ball.

Coco Gauff

Cori "Coco" Gauff, born in 2004 in Florida, USA, is an exciting young talent in women's tennis. Bursting onto the scene at just 15, she gained international attention when she defeated Venus Williams at Wimbledon in 2019. Known for her powerful serves, aggressive baseline play, and mental toughness, Gauff is one of the youngest players in the top 100 of the Women's Tennis Association rankings. Her impressive rise, coupled with her maturity on and off the court, marks her as a future star of the sport. Gauff's success is inspiring the next generation of players, proving that age is just a number.

HEAD

A brand with a reputation for innovation, HEAD trace their tennis origins back to the late 60s and the creation of the first aluminium-based tennis racket, the brainchild of company founder Howard Head.

Head, a former aeronautics engineer, began a racket revolution with his idea for light yet strong frames. Attracted by the durability of a metal racket, American icon Arthur Ashe stepped in to give a player’s point of view, assisting with development of the original aluminium frame in 1969. A few years later, a HEAD racket was in the hands of a champion, with Ashe famously wielding his signature Competition to win Wimbledon in ’75.

Since then, HEAD have continued to push the boundaries of racket design, utilising all kinds of space-age materials in the quest for ultimate performance. They’ve had many more champion players using their frames, too, from Agassi and Muster in the 90s to Murray, Djokovic, Sharapova and Stephens in the 21st century.

Their modern range has options for every type of play. There’s the ever-popular Prestige, providing absolute precision since 1987, the versatile Radical with its vibrant paintjobs, and the super-fast Speed, which remains Novak’s racket of choice. More recent additions include the aggressive Gravity, endorsed by Sascha Zverev, the spin-focused Extreme, recommended by Matteo Berrettini, and the explosive Boom, a power-focused frame endorsed by US prodigy Coco Gauff. Whichever you choose, you’ll perform at your best with a HEAD racket.

HEAD Boom

The HEAD Boom tennis racket is a dynamic and powerful choice for players seeking explosive shots and superior performance on the court. It features a lightweight and manoeuvrable frame that allows for swift and precise swings. The racket's oversized head provides an enlarged sweet spot, enhancing forgiveness and power on off-center hits. The Boom's innovative construction and materials optimise power transfer and stability, resulting in impressive shot speed and control. With its vibrant design and advanced technology, the HEAD Boom is a reliable weapon for players who want to dominate the game with their aggressive and powerful style of play.

Control Racket

Control rackets usually have closed string patterns – essentially, more strings per area – to increase ball contact and give you more control over your shots. They tend to have thinner beams to allow more flex and often utilise material technologies to make you feel more connected to the ball.
