adidas adizero Ubersonic 4.1 Clay Tennis Shoes

Play at light speed wearing the adidas Adizero Ubersonic 4.1 Clay tennis shoe in Aurora Black/Zero Met./Spark, a trainer that supports your extreme lateral movements with a reinforced, lightweight mesh upper.
Equipped with a breathable mesh upper, the adidas Adizero Ubersonic 4.1 combines lightweight comfort and a locked-down feel to put you in full control as you speed around clay courts, targeting victory for yourself and the planet. Internal reinforcement provides stability for lateral movements, while a streamlined collar and lacing system minimise distractions and ensure a snug, secure fit. Underfoot, the integration of Lightstrike cushioning makes this the most responsive Ubersonic ever. The new technology’s super-fast energy-returning properties propel you into action, and it makes a huge difference when changing direction at pace. The sustainability-focused 4.1 features a stylish, functional take on adi’s trademark Adituff external reinforcement, integrating recycled Boost cushioning at the forefoot for an extra bit of spring as you transition from side to side. The ever-reliable Adiwear outsole, meanwhile, provides durable traction to keep you on a secure footing.

adidas

The history of modern adidas tennis footwear goes all the way back to 1963, when the 3-Stripes introduced the first ever leather shoe to be seen on-court.

Championed by company founder Adi Dassler’s son, Horst, the shoe’s sturdy construction was a significant departure from the traditional canvas plimsoles that the brand had produced in the past.

Plimsoles remained the footwear of choice for most players of the time, but that soon changed when adi recruited French pro Robert Haillet to wear their new creation, emblazoning his face on the tongue and sending him out to show the shoe’s potential to the world.

Sound familiar? That’s right, the Haillet became the legendary Stan Smith, with the American replacing the recently retired Frenchman in 1971.

Since then, it’s been a constant flow of innovation from adidas, and a never-ending stream of star endorsement. From signature shoes for Rod Laver and Billie Jean King to design partnerships with Stella McCartney and Pharrell Williams, adidas have always set the standard in both performance and style.

Their latest range includes the legendary Barricade with its unrivalled stability, along with the light and fast Ubersonic. Or, if you prefer more of an all-rounder, check out the CourtJam and CourtFlash ranges. Options are available for a variety of surfaces, of course, and you can take your pick from adi’s superb midsole cushioning, whether that’s Bounce, Boost, or Lightstrike.

Clay Court

Clay court tennis shoes are specifically designed for optimal performance on clay surfaces. These shoes feature a full herringbone tread pattern on the outsole, which provides superior grip on the slippery clay surface, while also allowing the right amount of slide that clay-court play requires. This pattern also prevents clay from clogging the grooves. Additionally, these shoes are built to offer excellent lateral support for the side-to-side movements typical of clay court play. Enhanced durability is often a design focus as well, due to the abrasive nature of clay courts. Choosing clay court shoes can significantly improve stability and performance.
