Phantom 6 Review: Feel the Shift
We've tested a lot of boots over the years. Phantom Visions, GTs, GX1 and GX2. This one hits different.
We wore the Nike Phantom 6 through training drills and match sessions on both firm ground and artificial grass. Straight out the box, it feels lighter, sharper, and more refined. The shape is sleeker, and the upper feels softer to the touch, with just the right amount of structure.
Nike's Tuned Gripknit now wraps further across the toe box and instep. That gives you more surface area for clean control, especially in wet conditions. Whether you're receiving a zipped pass or bending a finish into the corner, the grip helps guide the ball without feeling sticky. It's more natural than GX2 and gives better feedback with every touch.
Underfoot, the Cyclone 360 plate has been reworked. The added conical studs and updated flex zones feel more responsive through quick turns and directional shifts. It grips fast and releases smoothly. No stud pressure. No hesitation when changing pace or angle.
The fit is the biggest upgrade. Nike has introduced a new last for the first time in nearly ten years. It's 3mm shorter and 1mm higher, which gives a more accurate, true-to-size shape with extra space in the toe box. The upper wraps the foot closely but stays comfortable. Internal padding around the heel keeps things secure, and there's minimal break-in needed.
We tested both the Low and High versions. The Low offers a barefoot-style feel with a clean strike zone. The High brings back Ghost Lacing, giving you extra surface coverage and even more Gripknit where it counts. Each version has a slightly different colour tone too, which adds a subtle visual edge.
