New year, new boots. Kicking off 2023 in the freshest way adidas have unveiled the next-generation of the COPA line as the Pure replaces the Sense. Lightweight feel, plush touch and maximum comfort is what we’re looking at here as the Three Stripes upgrade their first silo of the 2023.

The COPA series is renown for comfort, silky soft uppers and that traditional feel of controlling a ball that only a leather boot provides. That’s the DNA of COPA and that’s the DNA that adidas have respected and re-designed for the COPA Pure. So what’s the new generation all about? Here are 5 things you need to know about the adidas COPA Pure football boots...

1. It’s Lighter

We’ll start here. Gone are the days of ‘comfort’ boots being heavier than the rest of the boots on the market. You no longer have to sacrifice weight for comfort and the COPA Pure is proof of that. It’s 48g lighter than the previous COPA Sense edition to ensure that it can be worn at the very elite table of professional football.

2. New Upper

The Fusionskin leather upper offers unrivalled control on the ball and classic looks to match the heritage of the series. The soft cushioning at the forefoot uses a traditional quilted effect to produce that trademark Copa touch, it will help dampen the speed from a drilled pass while offering a bit of padding when striking at goal. That warm, satisfying feel is also present when your foot is inside the boot, it feels cushioned yet responsive. Run your fingers over the upper and watch the leather melt around them.

3. New Generation of Touch

The adidas COPA Pure arrives as the next generation in a lightweight and sustainability-focused design (made from 50% recycled plastic) with looks inspired by COPA heritage. The COPA Pure is streamlined for the modern game while retaining the comfort and touch the series is iconic for.

4. Upgraded Soleplate

Underneath that luxurious leather upper is a stabilising Torsion Frame soleplate keeps you balanced. It’s significantly lighter than previous models to aid responsiveness on pitch and it built to provide the foundation of agility, traction and comfort.

5. Take Your Pick

As with previous models of the COPA, the Pure will be available in laced and laceless across a variety of ground types, price points and sizes. It also launches in a choice of 3 colour ways and will be worn by the likes of Paulo Dybala, Pedri, and Ilkay Gundogan.
