Hoka Tecton X 3
The one of the wildest and most innovative trail runners out there just stepped it up again, with the HOKA Tecton X 3 in Neon Hoka Citrus/Black elite race day shoe, redesigned from the ground up for better grip, improved fit and more speed.
Just like its predecessor, the HOKA Tecton X3 features parallel carbon plates through the midsole to give you stability and energy return, but now the midsole has been upgraded to use pinnacle PEBA foam. A softer compound on the top provides a comfortable underfoot feel, while firmer foam nearer the ground adds stability as well as lightness and speed.
That unusual looking upper features a built-in knit gaiter to help prevent debris from entering your shoe, as well as adding lightweight support around the ankle. The upper is made from a hydrophobic and durable material designed for performance racing.
In the outsole a new lug orientation and shape provides enhanced traction, and the Vibram Litebase has been used to help keep the weight down to a minimum. A new wrap around shape to the outsole better protects the midsole, increasing durability so that you can keep on racing further.
Carbon Plate
They create the firmer feel that fast racers are looking for and help to guide the foot through your stride, providing a touch of extra support. They can also help create a rocker feel, with the stiffness allowing the shoe to pivot – as the toe goes down, the heel must come up, easing you into your next stride.
Although stiff, they do flex, providing an energised pop of forward momentum as the plate fights to retain its shape.
Each brand, and almost every shoe, uses a plate differently. Different shapes, thicknesses, and designs are used to prioritise a different aspect of performance. Some aim exclusively to guide the stride, while others focus solely on propulsion.
Extra Cushioning

HOKA
Start with a supremely cushioned midsole, offering marshmallow softness, shock absorption, comfort, and support at varying levels across the range. Then apply the Meta-Rocker. Designed to drive runners forward, this shaped underfoot geometry complements the natural gait cycle – by curving the shoe at the toe and heel, it ensures a smooth transition from impact to toe off. Lastly, the Active Foot Frame functions like a bucket seat in a car, cradling the heel and offering a secure feel across the foot.
The first thing you notice picking up a HOKA is how light they feel: despite the deep cushioned midsole, they have an almost weightless build. Combine that featherlight feel with the propulsive foam and forward geometry, and you get a sensation of pure speed. As HOKA would say, “Time to Fly”.

Off-Road Running
Take to the trails and leave the urban landscape behind in our off-road shoes.
Designed to offer traction across all kinds of terrain, from rocks and roots to mud and grass, they often feature small blunt spikes called “lugs” to dig into softer ground.
Many also feature improved protection in the upper, keeping loose rocks and branches at bay.
Best for Light Trail
Trail running shoes come in a range of builds, some focused on protection, others on speed or cushioning, but the biggest difference between light and severe trail options is outsole traction.
Light trail shoes typically feature lower lug heights, designed to grip across varied terrain without feeling overly aggressive. This allows the outsole to adapt to both soft ground and firmer paths, delivering confident traction across a wide mix of surfaces and conditions.
