History
Originally launched in 1972 - the Peg has far too much history to go into here, but luckily, we have a handy guide for you to check out at the link here, if you are interested.
Closer Look
Launched in a range of colours, including a bold Volt colourway, here at Pro:Direct we remember 10 years ago the 31 being launched in the same Volt colour, but it is fair to say, the shoe itself has moved on a lot since then, even if the colour hasn’t.
The headline change in the 41 is the use of ReactX in the midsole. Already in use in shoes like the Infinity Run 4. this is a foam that offers a 43% lower carbon footprint per pair of midsoles, and without any compromise in ride, quite the opposite in fact, offering an extra 13% energy return on each stride.
Nike have squeezed a few more mm of foam into that midsole too, giving even more cushioning, and even more energy than before, meaning this new Peg feels significantly livelier than its predecessor.
Dual Air Zoom units, one in the forefoot and one in the heel, enhance that springy feel, cushioning your landing and adding a pop of energy to your toe off.
The outsole hasn’t undergone any major changes, still taking inspiration from the classic waffle sole the Pegasus is known for.
Up top, an improved engineered mesh increases breathability, decreases weight and enhances comfort on the foot.
Conclusion
It’s a great update, far more comfortable than last year and the ReactX is a real upgrade over the previous React, making the Pegasus 41 a true all-rounder.
Coming in at £130 the Pegasus is also comparatively well priced, offering another reason to pick this updated classic for your rotation.
