This is the first vulcanized shoe collection by the Jordan brand. In a classic skate shoe style, the Jordan Series .05 has clean, high sidewalls that are double-wrapped around the toe for durability.Triangular cut-outs on the sides are inset with stretchy material that flexes to accommodate wider feet.
Wearable in any setting, these low-cut shoes combine canvas and suede with clean lines for a bold, high-contrast and modern look.
But that’s not all, if you turn them over for closure inspection, you’ll find some deeper Michael Jordan lore. The rubber outsole is moulded with a message about Mike and his big brother Larry.
‘45/2’ is a reference to the number they both wore as young men until they ended up on the same sports team. This is how MJ eventually became #23; he believed if he could be even half as great as Larry, he'd “be all right”.
The history lesson continues inside the shoe where a ‘SWING FOR THE FENCE’ graphic print on the sock liner is a direct quotation from a letter Larry once wrote to Michael. It speaks to MJ's attitude in life, and specifically references the brothers' famed backyard battles.
