Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Leather
The All Star Oxford has had a lovely leather makeover for a crisp and durable finish. In a bright white hue - these low-top kicks are perfect for a summer escapade.
If asked to name the oldest, most popular, best selling shoe of all time, the majority would assume this title would belong to industry giants such as Nike or adidas... how wrong they would be!
In 1908 the Converse Rubber Shoe Company in Malden, Massachusetts was established and by 1910 Converse had a production line outing 4000 shoes a day. 1917 became the main turning point for the company with the aim of enhancing the performance of the wearer. The 'All Star' Basketball was introduced, at this time the sport was only 25 years old.
In 1921, a Basketball player by the name of Charles Chuck Taylor walked into Converse complaining of sore feet, so Converse gave him a job. He strenuously went on continuing with his work until shortly before his death in 1969. The 'Chucks' soon became an icon of American sportswear and with such, a position it has maintained ever since with the likes of sports stars, rock stars, skaters and surfers frequently seen sporting Chucks.
The Converse All Star Chuck Taylor is undisputedly the king of the kicks, boasting sales of over 800 million pairs worldwide. Unlike any other shoe that eventually loses its popularity, the Converse All Star Chuck Taylor is as popular today as it was in 1923, when Chuck Taylor's name was stitched onto the patch, marking their birth.
Converse All Stars are more than just shoes or a fashion statement. The history of Converse shoes spans the history of 20th century America and the evolution of Basketball. They were able to revolutionise the sport of Basketball and took a front seat in witnessing the birth of rock n' roll.

Chuck Taylor All Star
Not many modern shoes can boast over a century of history, but the Chuck Taylor All Star, formerly the “Non-Skid”, is one of the few. The Converse Rubber Shoe Company’s first foray into the basketball world, the original “Non-Skid” or “All Star” shoe released in 1917, leveraging their rubber expertise for a fantastically grippy outsole that was perfect for the court. It was popular and effective, but what of the name Chuck Taylor? A few years later, in 1922, Converse hired young semi-pro Charles H. “Chuck” Taylor as a coach and salesman. This was a man with a true passion for basketball, touring college courts up and down the US to champion the college sport scene, coaching other coaches, and repping the All Star shoe. Chuck would quickly become the face of the brand, famously accelerating the rise of the sport nationwide and embedding the All Star in the consciousness of every budding b-baller.
The now ubiquitous Chuck Taylor All Star has had quite the journey in its 100-plus years. From the feet of court champions to the Olympics and US Army athletic training, the All Star now sits squarely in the streetwear repertoires of fashionistas the world over, with its familiar lines and signature badges speaking to one of the deepest histories in the business. Whether you’re sporting the iconic high-top, a sleek low-top, or one of their Lift Platform or Lugged variations, that lengthy street heritage travels with you.
