adidas Originals Samba
There are few models as iconic as the adidas Samba, and even fewer with such a rich heritage and following. While popularity changes with everything from retro runners to basketball styles, the Samba has been a constant over decades of fashion trends, cultures and style rotations. This is why we love the adidas Samba.
As with nearly all of adidas' most iconic footwear models, the Samba has origins in sports performance as a solution to an athletes problem. Start with the name - an honour of the 1950 football World Cup held in Brazil. As the decades went on, the Samba made the move from the pitch to the terrace as the shoe of choice on away days up and down the country, but more significantly when supporting teams abroad with the rise of terrace cultures true OGs, the casuals.
Securing new or rare colourways became part of the casuals identity, with the Samba leading the movement as the must have shoe for those trips across Western Europe. The Samba's versatility was recognised by other cultures, most notably the skateboarding scene which only added to the shoes legacy and desire. Add in celebrity endorsement, fresh collaborations and a new generation of modern casuals choosing the shoe as their uniform and it's not hard to see why the Samba is still part of so many people's rotation today.
The timeless design and versatility combined with sporting heritage is testament to why we love the adidas Samba, a shoe that will always has a place in our rotation.
