adidas Originals arsenal x Labrum

We caught up with founder and Creative Director Foday Dumbuya to discuss Labrum's ground-breaking collaboration with Arsenal Football Club and how it began.

I set up the brand, to tell untold stories that I know about Africa, that the mainstream media doesn't talk about. I wanted to bring those to me. And that's where I landed. Where I am today. I was very happy for that decision.

I tell stories a lot about movements, of people, migration. And if you look at football, if you stop motion for movements like the play stops, changes direction, this is what you start to think about. How can I make it. Trousers that compliment, that flow of the play movements.

When you design something that footballers get connected with because it fits in with their lifestyle. A football kit still needs to be fashionable enough for people to wear it. And people when it comes to play, when it comes to carnival, everyone's on the football tour is it becomes like a statement piece.

Its going to be a special moment when you actually see the players, Arsenal representing you, what you've created. I’m looking forward to that moment. Super, super excited for those moments. I can't wait. I'm going to make sure I try to be in L.A for that because it will be a special moment in my life. I think I'll never forget that the rest of my life.

I'm still excited, like a little kid, you know, when you like, your parent tell you they're going to take you to a candy shop to get sweets and, I'm still, still having sleepless nights thinking, wow, okay, this thing that we created is about to go live. Not only that, but also they're going to wear it.
And like you're doing this, I realize also it's the first time this has ever happened when after many collaborated on like that regular play kit, which is. This the first time it's being done in the Premier League.
