Triumph 25 vs Hurricane 26 vs Paramount Max

This year Saucony are launching two massive updates and one brand new shoe in the daily trainer market. All three are powered by the next generation of cutting-edge foams, so what shoe does what, and which should you get?

On the surface it looks like a clear choice. The Triumph has always been Saucony's luxury cruiser shoe, built for long comfortable miles, while the Hurricane is the structured version, offering the same ride with added stability. The new Paramount Max is a max stack shoe with no plate, using the same super foam found in Saucony's race-day model, the Endorphin Elite.

The reality is a little more blurred. With new foam in both the Triumph and Hurricane, they now offer much more speed than before. The Triumph can handle faster work, the Hurricane delivers a firmer ride that some runners may prefer regardless of support needs, and the Paramount Max may be more suited to easy and long miles than it first appears.

Closer Look

The Triumph

Price: £170

Weight: Men's 250g – Women's 216g

Stack height: 43–33mm (3mm higher than the 23)

Heel offset: 10mm

Primary use: Long runs, recovery runs, and now up-tempo work

The last few versions of the Triumph used PEBA foam, known for its light weight and energy return. It’s the same material seen in race shoes like the Vaporfly and Saucony’s Endorphin range.

Now Saucony have moved to a next-generation foam called IncrediLUX. This A-TPU compound builds on older TPU foams, delivering similar bounce, durability and comfort, but with reduced weight.

The result is a midsole that maintains plush comfort while improving responsiveness and efficiency.

What does this mean for your runs?

The Triumph keeps its signature comfort but now feels lighter and more responsive. With a 43mm stack, it still excels on long and recovery runs, but now has the added versatility to handle faster sessions when needed.

The Hurricane

Price: £165

Weight: Men's 262g – Women's 232g

Stack height: 41–35mm

Heel offset: 6mm

Primary use: Long-distance comfort with added support

The Hurricane shares the same IncrediLUX upgrade but adds an EVA carrier layer beneath. This firmer base gives a slightly more stable and controlled ride.

This design makes it ideal for runners who want the comfort of the Triumph but with a bit more structure, particularly over longer distances.

Despite the addition of EVA, most of the midsole remains soft, so cushioning and comfort remain high. The shoe also includes a durable XT-900 outsole and a premium upper.

If you like the Triumph but prefer a slightly firmer or more supportive ride, the Hurricane is a strong alternative.

The Paramount Max

Price: £170

Weight: Men's 295g – Women's 275g

Stack height: 43–37mm

Heel offset: 6mm

Primary use: Versatile max-cushion training

The Paramount Max is a new addition, inspired by a Saucony model from 2007. While it carries heritage naming, its performance is firmly modern.

It uses incrediRUN foam, a high-performance compound found in the Endorphin Pro. On paper, this suggests a faster, more aggressive ride.

However, Saucony have tuned the foam for durability and everyday usability. Combined with a wide and stable base, the result is a highly cushioned, versatile trainer.

It can handle faster efforts but remains comfortable enough for easy runs and recovery days, making it a true all-rounder.

Summary

The Triumph is now faster and more versatile than ever. The Hurricane delivers a slightly firmer, more stable version of that experience. The Paramount Max blends performance foam with everyday usability to create a uniquely adaptable option.

Each sits in the max-cushion category, but the differences in feel and purpose make the choice a personal one depending on how you run.
