A Wild Pokémon x adidas Collection Appeared

A Wild Pokémon x adidas Collection Appeared

Somewhere between choosing your first starter, filling a Pokédex and swapping cards in the playground, Pokémon had a habit of taking over.

Thirty years later, we're back in the long grass.

The adidas x Pokémon collection has arrived at Pro:Direct Lifestyle, bringing characters from the original Pokédex together with some equally familiar adidas Originals trainers. Mewtwo gets the Samba OG, Pikachu and Charmander take over the Superstar II, while Haunter heads somewhere slightly stranger with the Adistar Control 5.

And that's only the start. More Pokémon x adidas trainers are on the way, so keep an eye on the Pokédex.

adidas x Pokémon Trainers

The Pokémon x adidas 30th Anniversary collection goes considerably further than putting a character on the tongue.

Different Pokémon have been matched with different adidas trainers, with colourways, materials and smaller details inspired by each character. Across the collection you'll find classic adidas Samba and Superstar shapes alongside chunky retro runners and some considerably wilder designs.

For now, these are the Pokémon x adidas trainers you can catch at Pro:Direct Lifestyle.

adidas Pokémon Mewtwo Samba OG

Finding Mewtwo was never supposed to be easy. Thankfully, there's no trip to Cerulean Cave required here.

The adidas Originals Pokémon Mewtwo Samba OG takes Mewtwo's unmistakable colour palette and works it across one of adidas' most recognisable trainers. Soft lavender covers the upper, with darker purple details and smaller Pokémon references finishing the look.

At £100, it's the quieter option from the collection and an easy pair to work into an everyday rotation.

The adidas Originals Pokémon Mewtwo Younger Kids Samba OG is also available for £55.

adidas Pokémon Pikachu Superstar II

Pikachu. Superstar. It was always going to happen.

The adidas Originals Pokémon Pikachu Superstar II puts the face of Pokémon onto another Three Stripes classic. Where the Mewtwo Samba keeps things relatively subtle, Pikachu makes no attempt to hide in the long grass.

There's an adidas Originals Pokémon Pikachu Younger Kids Superstar II at £55 too, bringing the collection's most recognisable character into smaller sizes.

Consider that Pokédex entry sorted.

adidas Pokémon Haunter Adistar Control 5

Haunter gets one of the stranger silhouettes, which feels appropriate.

The adidas Originals Pokémon Haunter Adistar Control 5 pairs the chunky shape of adidas' retro runner with Haunter's purple colouring and character-led details. It gives the collaboration something different from the familiar Samba and Superstar, particularly if your trainer rotation already leans towards technical Y2K runners.

At £100, it's the current pick for anyone who would rather spend some time in Lavender Town than follow the crowd onto the terraces.

adidas Pokémon Charmander Superstar II

Charmander gets its own Superstar too.

The adidas Originals Pokémon Charmander Younger Kids Superstar II brings the Fire-type starter to the shell-toe classic, giving younger Pokémon fans another choice beyond Pikachu and Mewtwo.

At £55, it completes the current kids' Pokémon x adidas line-up alongside the Pikachu Superstar II and Mewtwo Samba OG.

adidas Pokémon Rayquaza Adistar Control 5 & ZX 500 RS

Some Pokémon live in the long grass. Rayquaza lives in the ozone layer.

The Legendary Pokémon from Pokémon Emerald gets two of the collection's darker trainers, starting with the adidas Originals Pokémon Rayquaza Adistar Control 5. Black covers the chunky retro runner, with Rayquaza's unmistakable green running through the shoe. At £100, it looks suitably menacing for something normally found circling somewhere above the clouds.

Rayquaza also takes over the adidas Originals Pokémon ZX 500 RS, where Collegiate Green and Bold Green bring much more of its serpentine colouring to the surface.

No trip up Sky Pillar required for either pair.

More Pokémon x adidas Trainers Are Coming

The Pokédex isn't complete yet.

More Pokémon x adidas trainers are set to join the team, so this is one worth checking back on as new characters and silhouettes appear.

For now, there are Sambas, Superstars and Adistars to choose from, with Mewtwo, Pikachu, Haunter and Charmander already caught.

Thirty years later, apparently we're still trying to catch 'em all.
